Charles (Carl) Hubay Jr. was born in Charlotte, NC March 16th, 1949. After High School, he graduated from Pembroke State University with a BS in Psychology. He was immediately drafted and sent to Fort Jackson, SC. He was chosen, because of his education, to be in charge of the records of a Basic Training Company. While there, he met Mary, who was an E3 (PFC) and he was an E4 (SP4). They dated. Thanks to the assistance of a Black SFC, who was his boss, he stayed in the US, after receiving 2 sets of orders to Viet Nam. SFC Miller helped them immensely throughout their 20 year careers. We considered him our Godfather. I honestly believe that if not for SFC Miller, I would not be alive today. After two years of service I got out and went for 2 years of PreMed School Courses. I applied but, could not get accepted to Medical School. I came back in the Army, and resumed my Military career as if I had never left. Assigned to Germany off and on for a total of six years, Mary and Carl toured Europe, Greece, Italy, Spain, Rome, London, and Sweden and Denmark. We retired after 20 years and retired to Las Vegas. The Army was the BEST thing I could have done in my life. Then, both of us joined the Metropolitan Police Force. After five years it was enough. Believe it or not, at that time, you could retire from Metro and get a retirement check. Next, we started flipping houses. Both of us and friends worked for us. After 15 years, we had 18 houses. Before property values dropped, we sold out. Carl also had an alternate career.
