PART ONE: Albert is a curious six year old. He draws pictures of everything that is important to him. When he draws pictures of himself, he is a super hero with a cape and a big red "A" on his shirt. For many nights, Albert is visited by a mystical unicorn who always reminds him that he is brave. He proves her right when he, with the unicorn's help, rescues the neighbor's dog, Rusty, from a very deep well. PART TWO: Now, seven years old, Albert spends lots of time with his friend, Becky, who lives across the street, One night, Becky's father joins the two of them up in the tree house that they had helped to build, and tells them a ghost story. Albert is surprised to hear that the story might very well be true. He is further surprised when the story includes a unicorn and something that Albert has hidden in his special box. A skeleton key.

Albert and Becky have a new friend. His name is Anthony. They met at the Community pool where they have been taking swimming lessons all summer. Albert has been trying very hard to become as good a swimmer as Becky and Anthony. His goal for the summer is to jump off of the low diving board and swim to the side of the pool. His mystical unicorn visits him once again to remind him to always be brave. After watching one of Anthony's five year old twin sisters fall into the deep end of the pool, will Albert summon the courage to jump in and save her?
