Operation M0H1K tells the story of Katia Bergman's initial mission as a National Security investigator. Commander Dubé, her boss, tasks her with going to Maniwaki to investigate a string of disappearances and murders affecting both the white and Anishinabe communities in the region. Moving up north has left Katia feeling dissatisfied. The couple's quality time is severely constrained because of her husband, Phil Tàmas Nadàsdy's night shifts as an ambulance driver in Outaouais. Yet, upon discovering the magnitude of the situation, Katia becomes overwhelmed by the families' anguish. She therefore accepts the assignment, much to the displeasure of Phil, who considers this investigation too dangerous for a novice police officer, although she has a master's degree in criminology.
Operation M0H1K tells the story of Katia Bergman’s initial mission as a National Security investigator. Commander Dubé, her boss, tasks her with going to Maniwaki to investigate a string of disappearances and murders affecting both the white and Anishinabe communities in the region. Moving up north has left Katia feeling dissatisfied. The couple’s quality time is severely constrained because of her husband, Phil Tàmas Nadàsdy’s night shifts as an ambulance driver in Outaouais. Yet, upon discovering the magnitude of the situation, Katia becomes overwhelmed by the families’ anguish. She therefore accepts the assignment, much to the displeasure of Phil, who considers this investigation too dangerous for a novice police officer, although she has a master’s degree in criminology.
Right from the start, Katia realizes that she is unwelcome in Maniwaki. She is subjected to ridicule by her coworkers and is paired up with an archivist who has autism spectrum disorder. There is a lack of trust towards her among the Kitigan Zibi police officers. Katia has the support of just one journalist, Dwayne Odjik, in her investigation. After one month, Katia comes to understand that the murders of young indigenous women are seen as a rite of passage for a neo-Nazi group that has established a presence in the area. The discovery of a young survivor aids the identification of the killers. At that point, Katia comes to the realization that the far-right group is a mere façade, hiding the presence of a more dangerous species of bloodthirsty humanoids called the “Strigoi.”
